You can buy GTA 6 digitally from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or Rockstar Store, or as a physical box at retailers like Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart and Target. The physical box has no disc. It holds a download code. Pre-orders have been open since June 25, 2026, and any pre-order or purchase made before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
Digital is the safer pick for most players. Physical suits you if you want to pay at a retailer or collect in store.

Physical Copy vs Digital: What Actually Changes
The “physical” copy of GTA 6 is a box with a download code. There is no Blu-ray disc in any edition. You redeem the code on your console’s store and download the full game, exactly like a digital buyer.
- Same download. Both versions install the same game. The size is not confirmed, so free about 250GB. See our GTA 6 file size guide.
- Same preload date. Preload opens November 12, 2026. Boxes ship and open for in-store pickup on November 12 so the code can start preload in time.
- No resale. The code redeems to your account, so you cannot lend, trade or resell it the way you could a disc.
- GTA+ month. Digital pre-orders include one free month of GTA+. We have not seen GTA+ listed on retailer box pages, so check yours.
- Ultimate is digital. Physical buyers get Standard and can upgrade later through the store.
GTA 6 Pre-Order Bonus: Vintage Vice City Pack
Every pre-order or purchase before November 20, 2026 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, whichever edition or retailer you use. It includes:
- The ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan and a personal garage near Ocean Beach
- 1980s-style outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia
- An exclusive weapon pattern
The pack is the same for both editions, so it should not decide Standard vs Ultimate. It only decides whether you buy before November 20.

Which Copy Should You Buy?
Buy digital if you want the GTA+ month, the cleanest preload, and an easy Ultimate upgrade. It also avoids shipping delays.
Buy the physical box if you prefer paying at a retailer, want in-store pickup, or are buying a gift. Remember it is a code, so it will not sit on a shelf as a game disc.
Skip the pre-order only if you do not mind missing the bonus pack. You can still buy after launch, but the pack ends on November 20.
