GTA 6 Unlock Time: What Time GTA 6 Releases in Your Country
GTA 6 is listed to unlock at 00:00 local time on 19 November 2026, country by country, based on PlayStation Store timestamps. Rockstar has not published an official regional unlock schedule, so treat the times below as store-derived. There is no single worldwide moment. New Zealand plays roughly 19 hours before Mexico.
The planner above reads your timezone and gives you four things: your unlock moment, a live countdown, the latest time you can start your preload and still be ready, and a ranked table of every region that plays before you.

What time does GTA 6 come out?
Midnight, wherever you are, according to store listings. Your unlock time depends on your timezone, not on your platform, edition or when you pre-ordered. We will change this page the moment Rockstar posts an official schedule.

When does GTA 6 preload start?
Preload opens 12 November 2026, seven days before launch, on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, per the Rockstar Store and PlayStation Store listings. Digital pre-orders see it in their library. Boxed copies ship and open for pickup on November 12, and the code starts preload once redeemed.
Rockstar has not published the install size. The planner defaults to a 150GB estimate. Plan for up to 250GB, and read our GTA 6 file size guide for what is confirmed. Low on space? See the best PS5 SSD for GTA 6.
How long will GTA 6 take to download?
Divide the install size by your real throughput, not your advertised speed. The planner applies a 0.9 efficiency factor, which is close to what console downloads reach on a healthy connection. Because the size is unconfirmed, here are three scenarios:
If your download takes longer than the seven-day preload window allows, start on 12 November and leave the console in rest mode.
| Your speed | 150GB | 200GB | 250GB |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Mbps | ~37 hrs | ~49 hrs | ~62 hrs |
| 25 Mbps | ~15 hrs | ~20 hrs | ~25 hrs |
| 50 Mbps | ~7.4 hrs | ~9.9 hrs | ~12 hrs |
| 100 Mbps | ~3.7 hrs | ~4.9 hrs | ~6.2 hrs |
| 500 Mbps | ~44 min | ~59 min | ~1.2 hrs |
If your download takes longer than you have before launch, start on 12 November and leave the console in rest mode.
Which countries play GTA 6 first?
New Zealand unlocks first, followed by Australia, Japan and Korea. Mexico and five other regions are last, about 19 hours behind New Zealand. The table in the planner shows every region converted into your local clock, so you can see exactly what time streamers in Auckland will be playing while you wait.
Do you need a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?
Yes. GTA 6 launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version, and no PC version has been confirmed. If you are still on last-gen hardware, work out the cheapest route with what you need to play GTA 6, or compare options in the console guide.
