What Take-Two Has Said
Take-Two has been careful. At its August 7 earnings call, Zelnick said Rockstar will keep supporting GTA Online after GTA 6 arrives. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said at the time that Take-Two was talking about GTA 6 only as a single-player game.
At the September 17 shareholder meeting, Zelnick confirmed GTA 6 ships without an online mode and without microtransactions, and said the current GTA Online continues, per GTA Boom’s report. He did not name a follow-up online mode or a date.
What Is Reported
On October 14, Schreier’s Bloomberg piece on the making of GTA 6 said Rockstar has an online component planned and expected in 2027. Developers are not discussing it yet because the focus is marketing the single-player game. Digital Trends and others stress the word “expected”: it is a report, not a confirmation.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg in September that GTA 6 multiplayer arrives “next year,” without a date. He is not a Rockstar spokesperson.
What GTA Online Does Now
The current GTA Online is not going away. Bloomberg estimates it earns Take-Two about $500 million a year, which explains the support promise. It keeps weekly bonuses, events and discounts running through the GTA 6 launch.
If you are deciding whether to start it now, read is GTA Online still worth playing in 2026. Rockstar has announced no way to move progress from GTA Online to a GTA 6 mode.

What Is Still Unknown
- The name of the GTA 6 online mode

- Whether it launches on PC
On PC, Zelnick said at the September meeting that the platform is becoming “more and more important,” but no PC version is confirmed. Read why GTA 6 has no PC release date.
Does the Online Mode Change What You Should Buy?
