Sony’s GTA 6 DualSense controllers come in two versions, a White Limited Edition and a Black Limited Edition. Each costs $84.99 (€84.99 / £74.99). Pre-orders opened September 10, and both ship November 19, the same day GTA 6 launches on PS5.
Sony is selling them in limited quantities. If you want one on launch day, pre-order now rather than waiting for November stock.

That’s about $10 more than a standard DualSense. You’re paying for the finish and the branding, not new hardware.
White vs Black Edition: What’s Different
Both controllers share one design: a color-shifting shimmer finish, palm trees molded into the grips, hot pink button detailing, and the Roman numeral VI in Rockstar’s branding on the touchpad.
The difference is the theme. Sony describes the white edition as Vice City at daybreak, with pastel skies and white sands. The black edition is built around Vice City’s nightlife, with a dark body that makes the neon accents stand out.
The molded palm trees are the detail most standard limited editions skip. Many past special-edition DualSense designs used printed art on flat panels. These grips carry the theme in texture as well as color.

Where to Pre-Order and When They Ship
The two editions are distributed differently:
- White Limited Edition: limited quantities worldwide through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers
- Black Limited Edition: PlayStation Direct where it operates, and select retailers in other regions
Both ship November 19. If you’re buying GTA 6 physically, note that the boxed version is a code-in-a-box with no disc, so the controller and game arrive the same day either way. Full edition and pricing detail is on our GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition breakdown.

What Sony Didn’t Announce
Sony announced exactly two controllers and nothing else. There’s no GTA 6 PS5 console, no console cover, no DualSense Edge variant, and no controller-plus-game bundle.
Unverified photos of an alleged GTA 6 Collector’s Edition box have also circulated since early September. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any physical collector’s tier. Its only confirmed editions are Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99), and we’re treating the photos as unconfirmed until Rockstar says otherwise.
Setting Up Your PS5 for November 19?
GTA 6 is expected to need 150–200GB of storage, which doesn’t fit comfortably on a launch PS5’s usable space. Best PS5 SSD for GTA 6: Size, Speed and Install Guide
Do They Change How GTA 6 Plays?
No. These are standard DualSense controllers with a custom shell. Performance, haptics, adaptive triggers, and battery life match a regular DualSense.
Buy one for the design or as a collectible, not for a gameplay edge. Any DualSense will play GTA 6 the same way.
One practical note: a spare controller matters more than usual this launch. Previews from Rockstar North put the main story at around 80 hours, and a second charged pad means no pausing mid-chase when the battery runs out.
Other PS5 Special Edition Controllers Worth Buying
If the GTA 6 editions sell out, or the Vice City theme isn’t for you, Sony’s other special-edition DualSense controllers work the same way.
| Type | What you get | Worth it if |
|---|---|---|
| Game-themed limited editions (e.g. past Spider-Man 2, God of War, Astro Bot runs) | Unique shell art, standard internals | You collect them. Restocks are rare and resale prices climb |
| Standard DualSense color lines | Solid colors and camo finishes, regular price | You want a second pad without the premium |
| DualSense Edge | Back buttons, swappable sticks, adjustable triggers | You want a pro controller (see below) |
Past limited editions like the Spider-Man 2 DualSense often sell out and then trade above retail. If you missed one, compare the resale price to the $84.99 GTA 6 editions before you pay a markup.
Standard DualSense vs DualSense Edge for GTA 6
The DualSense Edge adds remappable back paddles, swappable stick modules, and trigger stops. For a third-person open-world game like GTA 6, the back paddles are the useful part. You can sprint, aim, and use the weapon wheel without taking your thumb off the right stick.
It’s a bigger spend than the GTA 6 editions, and Sony didn’t release a GTA 6 Edge. For a themed controller, get the limited edition. For comfort over an 80-hour story, the Edge is the stronger buy. For more gear to go with either, see our PS5 accessories for GTA 6 list.
